About Me
Once a writer, always a waitress. Six years ago, fresh from Cambridge University with a degree in politics, no core strength and terrible balance, I was working a miserable brunch shift at a restaurant in Haggerston. The owner insisted that I carry my tray one-handed and I decanted a whole, steaming poached egg into a geriatric man's lap. Not once, but twice. It was clear I'd have to stick to the writing.
So now – rather than trying to remove globulous eggs from angry men's crotches without breaking the yolk or inviting a lawsuit – I'm a screenwriter, and a producer at Seek Films.
I’ve had three short film scripts produced: ALL OF ME (2017), which has played at 25 international film festivals, THE INVADERS SONG (2018) which premiered at Palm Springs and FULL ENGLISH (2018) which won ‘Best Screenplay’ at LiftOff 2019. I recently wrapped on my directorial debut, short film EXIT TO STAGE (2019) made with the support of Directors UK and ARRI.
My pilot script LESBIAN BED DEATH was shortlisted for the Edinburgh TV festival’s New Voices award and earned me a place on the Film Independent Episodic Lab. Most excitingly, My debut feature film THE EYE is in production with Fingerprint Content, filming in 2021 (pandemic allowing).
Outside of screenwriting, I’m an editor at Cause & Effect magazine and co-founder of ‘Breaking Through The Lens’, a financing event for female and nonbinary directors.
I've meandered through a few different careers. I worked on business development projects in Nigeria and England, ran away to New York, ran back to London and finally started writing. I spent two years as a journalist at OutThere, a gay men's arts, fashion and travel publication, before leaving to pursue film.
Also available for poached egg extractions, mediocre espresso martinis and tutoring A-Level Politics.
